> Separate the pole shafts completely.
> Never apply lubricants to any part of your pole. Air out the sections between uses, and replace the lock system expander once a year for moderate to heavy use.
> Use a wire brush and swab to wipe away dirt and debris from the inside of the poles.
> Locate the SAS in themiddle section of your pole.
> Notice the two settings for "on" or "off."
> Adjust the settings accordingly.

> To set the Triple Spring, hold the pole upright and grasp the middle shaft section with your left hand while grasping the upper shaft with your right hand.
> Push the upper section down firmly until you feel the spring is fully compressed. You can do this more easily by placing the pole on a hard outdoor surface.
> Rotate the upper section 1/3 turn to the left (to the right will loosen the locked position) and release; the spring will now be in its new setting.
> Always turn the upper section to the left to reset the spring.
> The Triple Spring settings are: Almost Off/Medium Spring/Full Spring.

> The expander has fallen off the screw thread, or the expander is still inside the shaft above it.
> Push the section that won't tighten all the way into the section above.
> Trap the expander and twist the shaft in a tightening motion a few turns.
> Adjust the section to the desired length and continue tightening; your pole will lock now.

> Pull the pole sections apart.
> Locate the expander and hold with thumb and forefinger.
> For SLS poles, turn the pole section while holding the expander, and check to make sure there is movement of the internal piece on the screw. If you see no movement, or the expander appears to be jammed, call our Customer Service
> For standard expanders that come off, check to make sure the screw threads are free of debris, and re-thread the expander.
> Put the pole sections together, and continue to tighten the desired adjustment until resistance is met.
